How this is measured

Strokes gained comes from round-level data for every PGA Tour round, per round against that round's field. Everything else is from our own shot capture of 2026, 31 events, compared with every other player in the same events.

An approach is the tee shot on a par 3, the second shot on a par 4 and the third on a par 5, played from 75 to 225 yards from the fairway or the tee. Each one is set against the tour's average from the same 10-yard band, so a player who gets more short approaches does not look better for it. Each putt is set against the tour's make rate from the same foot, 2 to 60 feet. Greens in regulation come from where the ball finished, not a reported flag.

More on each part: approach proximity by distance, how often tour pros make putts and which strokes gained category matters.
